TULLAHOMA, TN – The Shelbyville Central Golden Eaglettes struggled to get anything going on the offensive end in their 44-29 loss at Tullahoma on Tuesday night.
Coming off of an extremely tough overtime loss on Monday night to Summit, Shelbyville struggled to find consistent scoring. Lanaya Young was the only Eaglette to reach double-figures on the night, finishing with 10 points, including seven in the second half. Janiya Leslie chipped in with eight first-half points to keep Shelbyville afloat, but couldn’t get anything to drop in the second half. Jaz Western was held to just five points on the night as well.
For the Lady Wildcats, they were able to have three players reach double-digit points on the night. McLayne Bobo led the way with a game-high 17 points, including 15 in the first half. Aubrey North picked up the slack with 11 second-half points after being held scoreless in the first half, and Isabella Lidstrom scored one bucket in each quarter to finish with 10 points of her own.
Playing their second game in as many days, the Eaglettes came out of the gates sluggish, scoring only five points in the first quarter. Bobo came out hot and ready to make a statement for Tullahoma, scoring 11 of her team’s 15 first quarter points, including hitting a pair of three-pointers to give the Lady ‘Cats a 15-5 lead after the opening period.
Shelbyville finally began to find their rhythm in the second quarter, outscoring Tullahoma 14-9 in the period to cut the lead to 24-19 going into the halftime locker room. Five different Eaglettes scored at least one basket in the quarter while they held Bobo to just four points on the other end.
In the third quarter, Tullahoma re-implemented their stranglehold on the game, holding Shelbyville to just six points in the period while the hosts connected on a trio of three-pointers to go into the final frame with a 35-25 lead. Aubrey Northy scored eight of her 11 second-half points in the third quarter.
Shelbyville continued their offensive woes in the fourth quarter as well, only scoring four points and connecting on just one field goal as Tullahoma scored nine points of their own. North connected on another three, and three other Lady ‘Cats scored one field goal each to keep the Eaglettes at bay and take the home win, 44-29.
Tullahoma improves to 5-0 on the season.
Shelbyville Central falls to 2-4 overall with their next game scheduled for Friday night against Siegel at home, LIVE on WLIJ 98.7 starting at 5:45 p.m.
